I will be brave and post the before-glass photo. I apologize for taking a picture of nothing, but it was the only way to actually show the filth. And please keep in mind that this is OUTDOOR sliding door glass that hasn't been cleaned since before winter. Shameful, I know.
Gross. Just gross. Let's look at one more, shall we?
Seen enough? Me too. Here's the after-glass photo. Much nicer.
I could have left out the lavender soap, because I did have some streaking using this mixture but it really cut the dirt and, well, the lavender smells nice. I probably could have also just used water and the castile soap on its own to get the initial dirt off.
For my regular glass cleaner (table top), I have two spray bottles filled with the two other recipes below. I'm going to continue to experiment. What I really appreciate about DIY cleaners is that I get to reuse and refill an old spray bottle with inexpensive, environmentally friendly ingredients. Love it.
Glass Cleaner for Painfully Dirty Windows:
2 tbsp borax dissolved well into 4 cups of warm water, plus a few drops of lavender castile soap.
I've tried both of the recipes below:
Daily Glass Cleaner #1:
2 cups water, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 tbsp cornstarch (minimal streaking)
Daily Glass Cleaner #2:
1 cup water, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, 1 tbsp vinegar (I also tested it successfully on my bathroom mirror and had no streaking)
Happy cleaning.
